Claire McIntosh remembered

Claire died, aged 95, on Friday 10th July after a short illness.

Claire had been a keen member of Hook Church since 1984, when she was Baptised. Claire loved Church, and came along to the Tuesday Service, the Wednesday Evening Prayer meetings, and to Church twice on a Sunday. She is remembered for her joyful singing and her loud Amen’s. Claire was instrumental in her neighbour, Pauline, coming to faith. Though Claire became housebound these last few years, she stayed in touch with many Church friends through their visits or on the phone. One of Claire’s final words were ‘I am ready to go Home’.

Claire’s funeral took place on Monday 27th July at Putney Vale Crematorium.

As we weren’t able to attend the Service or have a Church celebration, Church members were invited to line Hook Road as the cortege made its way to the crematorium. About 28 of us clapped in memory of a dear sister-in-Christ, and to show our love and support for the family.

We were able to tune in to the Funeral Service via an online link (www.Obitus.com, Username - Bifa 7455; password: 816367 - this will be viewable from Thurs 30th July).

The Funeral Service was taken by Pastor Paul Pease.

Claire’s grandson, Morgan, read the Bible reading 1 Thessalonians 4 v13-18. Then Zeema, Claire’s granddaughter, gave a heartfelt Eulogy - how her grandmother filled every room she was in. They liked to watch ‘Nightrider’ together, and enjoyed eating mini-Mars Bars. She remembers her grandmother had the sweetest tooth; how she liked to speak her mind, and influenced many.

We heard a number of Claire’s favourite songs:

Paul spoke on the Bible passage 1 Thessalonians 4: how Claire has now ‘Fallen asleep in Jesus’ and she is at rest. That Jesus will come back again, to take believers to be with Him. Then there will be a resurrection time, and we shall have resurrection bodies. . This fills our hearts with hope.

Claire will be remembered most fondly by all her friends and family alike, but we know that she is now with her Saviour and Lord.
